David Moyes is confident his Manchester United squad will benefit from their warm weather training camp during the closing stages of the season.
The Reds flew out to the Middle East following last week’s goalless draw with Arsenal and returned on Tuesday, feeling refreshed and ready for action ahead of Saturday’s clash with Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park in the Barclays Premier League.
While speaking to the media at the Aon Training Complex, Moyes explained why the time with his squad was well-spent. “It was great that we had some time together with the players. It was the first time we've really had the chance to get a few days with the lads.
“We trained and had some relaxation time. I'm sure it will benefit the players, having the chance to relax. We'd have rather been in the FA Cup, let me tell you that, but the only thing we can do is prepare for the 12 remaining games.”
United’s match with the Eagles on Saturday is swiftly followed by a trip to Olympiacos in the UEFA Champions League and, as a result, Moyes is planning to utilise his entire squad with both fixtures in mind. However, the boss says he isn't taking either game lightly.
“We want to win [against Crystal Palace],” the boss explained. “We have another big game on Tuesday night as well. We play at 5:30pm and then again on Tuesday night. That's the way it is but we'll be ready. We want to try and be good for both games.
“There's a squad here that's used to being rotated and used. That's why United have often been strong at the end of the season - they make sure players don't play every game.
“So when the big games come they have fresh players. We're fortunate we have that here. We've tried to give everybody an opportunity to show what they can do, which is important when you get a new manager in.”
