Reports in Germany last month revealed David Moyes was at the game between Hertha Berlin and Freiburg to scout the 20-year-old further.
Ginter has been rated as one of the Bundesligas up and coming stars, with both Bayern Munich and Arsenal interested in the £10m rated star.
Moyes will be looking to fill the holes in his squad this summer after it was announced Nemanja Vidic would be leaving the club.
And after hearing the news, Ginter hinted he would interested in a potential move to the Premier League champs but admitted there was a no long way to go between now and the end of the season.
"If it is true, I am of course honoured and excited," Ginter is quoted as saying.
"On the other hand, there is still a long way to the summer."
Ginter's current contract with struggling Freiburg runs until 2017.
Ginter has featured 28 times this season in the Bundesliga and the Europa League combined, as per WhoScored.com.
