Man Utd keen on FC Barcelona forward Cristian Tello #mufc

Barcelona forward Cristian Tello has reportedly emerged as a possible transfer target for Manchester United.

Tello turned down a move to the Premier League at the start of the season, snubbing a move to Liverpool and instead opting to battle for a place in Gerardo Martino's side this season.

However, he has found his opportunities limited, and reports in Spain during the January transfer window suggested that a move away from Camp Nou could be on the cards.

The 22-year-old has been linked with Arsenal as well as Liverpool, but according to Tuttomercatoweb, United boss David Moyes is also keeping a close eye on the young Spaniard.

According to Monday's report, Tello is still on Liverpool's radar, and is likely to leave Barca when the transfer window reopens at the end of the season.

United have already confirmed they plan to spend rising income on new players this summer, with Moyes set to be handed a massive transfer kitty to avoid a repeat of his first season in charge at Old Trafford.

United's hopes of retaining their Premier League title are all but over, while last year's champions are also in danger of missing out on a top four finish and a place in next season's Champions League.

The club last week announced second-quarter revenue of £122.9million, and in a statement to shareholders, executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward acknowledged that things haven't gone to plan on the pitch.

An increase in revenue - up 11.6 per cent from a year - is set to lead to a major spending spree when the transfer market reopens at the end of the season.

Mr Woodward said on a conference call: "Over the medium term, we would expect annual net player [capital expenditure] to track higher than our historical average as we invest in our squad."
