Kahn: If Schweinsteiger gets Manchester United offer he should accept

Bayern Munich ace has been told to join Manchester United if the chance comes along.
From one German hero to another, Bastian Schweinsteiger has been advised to move to Manchester United if he gets the chance.

None other than former World Cup hero Oliver Kahn has publicly recommended the Red Devils to the current German international, as one of three clubs he should consider.

He told Kicker: "I understand completely if Bastian went from this summer. If you have an offer from a club like Real Madrid, Barcelona or Manchester United, you have to accept."

For United on the face of it, it would be a dream scenario to bring Schweinsteiger on board to play in their central midfielder positions.

Even though the German is 29, he would still be an upgrade on their current options, and by Ryan Giggs' standards, that's another decade at the top.

Yet the word of caution would be with regard to Schweinsteiger's fitness. He has not played due to injury since November, and recently suffered a setback and is 50/50 to play in Bayern's Champions League clashes with Arsenal.

It would all depend on how much United were willing to offer, with David Moyes interested in teammate Toni Kroos whose contract talks have broken down, it could well be that the Red Devils simply don't go in for the German.

He has played 10 games this season with one goal and one assist, with a 92 per cent pass success rate. His future at Bayern Munich under Pep Guardiola remains uncertain as the Spaniard gradually establishes and works out his vision for the club, with Schweinsteiger in danger of being seen as one of the 'old guard'.
