Man Utd will 'go for the throat' against Olympiakos - David Moyes

Manchester United manager David Moyes has admitted that his players will have to "go for the throat" to overturn a 2-0 Champions League last-16 deficit against Olympiakos on Wednesday night.

United slumped to a 3-0 defeat against bitter rivals Liverpool in the Premier League at Old Trafford on Sunday - their ninth loss so far this season - and are now 12 points adrift of Manchester City in the final and coveted Champions League spot. Their local rivals also have three games in hand on league leaders Chelsea.

It means the club's hopes of qualifying for Europe's premier club competition arguably depend on them winning it this time around.

"The players are capable of turning it around," insisted Moyes.

"We're all desperate to put things right and make sure we play better to give the supporters here something to shout about. They shouted [against Liverpool] and we didn't give them anything on the field.

"When we went to Greece, the Olympiakos fans played their part, so hopefully our fans will roar us on."
