David Moyes has hinted that Manchester United are to offer goalkeeper David De Gea a new contract.
De Gea firmly established himself as United's No. 1 goalkeeper last season after a tough start at Old Trafford following his move from Atletico Madrid in 2011, and although Moyes' side have been less than convincing this season, the Spaniard has been one of their most consistent performers.
The 23-year-old, whose existing deal expires in 2015, has been linked with Barcelona and Spanish rivals Real Madrid, but recent reports have suggested United have put a new £6million-a-year contract on the table.
And now Moyes has indicated that a new deal is in the pipeline after paying a glowing tribute to his first-choice keeper.
"David De Gea has been terrific," Moyes said.
"He has been great. He came in as a good young goalkeeper and he is turning into a great goalkeeper with a lot more to come."
He added: "The club are always going to keep their best players.
"The club will always look to keep the players who they feel they need to."
