Man Utd 'register interest' in Edinson Cavani

Manchester United have reportedly registered their interest in Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani.

Cavani joined PSG from Napoli last summer, signing a five-year contract after moving to France in a £55million deal.

During the January transfer window, it had been reported that the Uruguay international is unhappy at PSG, and several clubs were rumoured to be considering tabling bids, including United.

And according to Goal.com, David Moyes is now preparing to make a move for the forward as part of a major spending spree planned for over the summer.

According to Wednesday's report, Cavani has authorised his representatives to explore the possibility of a move to Old Trafford.

Cavani's agent was rumoured to be in London last week, although whether he was there on business is unknown.

It has been suggested that Cavani, who has also been linked with a move to Chelsea, is unhappy with PSG coach Laurent Blanc's tactics.

The forward has been deployed in a wide role in order to accommodate Zlatan Ibrahimovic in Blanc's attacking line-up.

Speaking shortly before the January transfer window closed, Blanc had played down the reports linking Cavani with a move away from the Ligue 1 club.

"You cannot prevent that some club is interested in PSG players, as we are interested in many players," he told reporters.

"But today, it is almost impossible to take a major PSG player during the winter market."
