Arsenal FC refuse to rule out Robin van Persie bid

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has refused to rule out making a summer move for Manchester United striker Robin van Persie.

Van Persie left Arsenal in summer 2012, joining United in a £24million move.

Newspaper reports last weekend had linked the 30-year-old with a return to Emirates Stadium, where he spent eight years and scored over 100 goals, but Wenger has refused to be drawn on the subject.

Speaking to reporters on Tuesday, Wenger said when asked about the possibility of Van Persie returning to the club: "I don't think it’s the best time to talk about that."

Wenger was speaking ahead of his side's clash with United in the Premier League on Wednesday night.

"Van Persie is a great player," the Frenchman continued.

"It's down to how well we defend against him tomorrow.

"We've been very stable until now defensively, we have to consider how well we have done until now."
