ARSENE WENGER has revealed his surprise at Chelsea selling Juan Mata to Manchester United.
Mata is expected to complete a £37million move to Old Trafford today after falling out of favour with Blues boss Jose Mourinho.
Arsenal were in the running to sign the 25-year-old before he left Valencia for Stamford Bridge in 2011.
And Wenger has admitted he is surprised that Chelsea were willing to allow Mata to join a rival club.
"Yes I am [suprised] because Juan Mata is a great player, and they are selling great player to a direct opponent," he said.
